GM / AC Delco Heavy Duty SSR Radiator

This is a genuine GM radiator (not an aftermarket clone) that holds about one additional quart of coolant and has approximately 40% more cooling capacity than the OEM unit due to the surface area increase of the core thickness.  This is the recommended radiator for installations above 500 horsepower.  This radiator is NOT necessary for stock engines – not even in Phoenix.  The recommended replacement radiator for stock engines is the Denso ‎221-9392.

Testing has shown that this particular radiator does not significantly impact the airflow of any cooling fan when compared to the OEM radiator. Real life testing (back-to-back with an OEM radiator) on an SSR in Phoenix on 115 and 116 degree days has demonstrated the increase in system capacity. This radiator has the exact same tanks and fittings as the OEM radiator, eliminating any concern about electrolysis or fitment issues.

Special upper and lower core support air blocks (The Simple Engineering HD Radiator Installation Kit) are already installed on the radiator by Simple Engineering to maximize core airflow.

Both the OEM cooling fan and the Simple Engineering Main Fan Kit For SSRs With Modified Engines (MFK-2) are 100% compatible with this radiator without modification.

Installing the Simple Engineering Direct Replacement Fan (MFK-1) will require trimming of the seal on the fan to be compatible with this radiator. Instructions are included with the radiator and available in the Installation Instructions tab on the left.

Recommended coolant is a 50/50 mix of Dex-Cool® and distilled water.  If you prefer, you can use ZEREX™, but mixing the two coolants is not recommended.

The radiator is double-boxed with cushioning for shipping protection.  The cost of all packaging, insurance and shipping to anywhere in the 48 Continental states is included in the price.  If you wish to save money and acquire the GM radiator elsewhere, we offer the “Installation Kit” as a separate item on the web site to help you.  The GM part number for this radiator is 10353890, AC Delco part number 21540.  It is the standard radiator on the 2006-2010 Corvette Z06.
