The Stiffening Plate is made of .250″ thick 6061-T6 aluminum and is furnished with all necessary hardware for installation.
The plate reinforces the steering rack mounting and the front “K-member” where it ties to the main frame of the vehicle.
The airflow out of the engine compartment is enhanced through the use of two small aerodynamic pieces and an optimized airflow exit area. The engine air exit areas are separated into two “zones”, the first at the front of the oil pan area and the second aft of the steering rack in the bell housing area. This plate actually will pull more air out of the engine compartment than the stock configuration.
Installing this plate, by itself, will yield impressive changes to the way the SSR feels. When done in conjunction with the “Left Coast 32 Frame Crossmember Kit” you will get even better results, as the two products were designed to work in concert with each other.
This is a completely reversible installation that can be installed in the driveway with hand tools. Installation of the Stiffening Plate, by itself, does not require a subsequent front end alignment. Installation of the LC32 Crossmember kit requires that the four alignment bolts be removed and re-installed. It is strongly suggested that the alignment be checked after installation of the LC32 Crossmember.
This stiffening plate bridges from the front crossmember under the crankshaft pulley to the main frame attach point that is even with the front tires. Steering response is improved and windshield “shake” is reduced.
