There have been failures at the connector interface to the cargo cover lamp, resulting in a burned connector and circuit board. This is because GM chose to put too high of a fuse value on the circuit that lights the cargo lamp under the rear cover. After looking at both failed units and non-failed connections, we now believe the failures are associated with condensation and corrosion residue across the face of the connector. The burned circuit board appears to be a secondary failure.
This kit provides a new double sided circuit board with plated through holes and all components and wiring pre-soldered into the board. The circuit board looks similar to the OEM board, but it has a slight layout improvement. The pre-wired harness electrical connector has all the correct color coded wires and includes the necessary splices and adhesive heat shrink. Also included is a 2 amp fuse (plus a spare) and a new LED lamp for the cargo light. Total time for repair and replacement is less than 30 minutes if you have some electrical repair experience and have read the instructions first.
You will need a hot melt glue gun to re-install the connector onto the cargo cover panel. Yes, this is how GM did it from the factory…
